A community based art project developed by The Honeys of The Open Forum Youth Initiative, Art in the Yard sought to bring creativity and beauty into the very backyards of our community and provide revenue for more community based creative activities.
Working with the creative mentors of The Open Forum Youth Initiative, The Honeys
organized and hosted a concert, open mic, and lemonade stand. Through the process of event planning and organizing, we gained a better understanding of the skills needed in entrepreneurship. We solved problems together and tried ideas for how to earn money to accomplish our creative plans. More than anything, we were able to create space for neighbors to see one another and spend time together in our community.
